Key Points

  • The fastest ways to get your first Fiverr job is to have an optimized profile straight away, while Fiverr promotes new gigs, or to use the "Get Brief" feature and respond directly to client requests;
  • Fiverr team recommends that you not make frequent changes to your gigs and wait at least 3-4 weeks between each change to ensure that they do not negatively affect your ranking;
  • Adding a video and FAQs to your Fiverr gig can significantly affect your ranking — some users say that a video has increased their impressions by 30%;
  • In order to use the "Promoted Gig" feature on Fiverr, you need to be a Level 1 seller or higher.

If you're new to Fiverr or a longtime freelancer who is wondering why your gigs don't get the expected number of clicks and orders, don't worry, you're not the only one. With competition as high as it is on Fiverr — the second most popular freelancing platform among its competitors in the field after Upwork, with 16.75% of the market share — you can’t just post a gig and expect orders to start coming in. You’ve got to be seen. Gig promotion is one of the strategies for driving more views and attracting the right buyers. Let's take a look at the top 5 proven methods to promote your Fiverr gig. Spoiler alert: Most of them are completely free!

Optimize your gig for SEO search

To get hired on Fiverr, you need to be found first. The platform’s search engine works a lot like Google’s in principle — the client types a query and receives results based on their relevance. To be ranked among the top in search results, you need to optimize your gigs for the algorithm. If you're new to the platform, it's important to do this ASAP as new gigs are shown more frequently on Fiverr to help beginners get their first clients.

Here is a list of the top search results for SEO content writer gigs. As you can see, all of them contain the primary keywords in the title. The buyers can be more specific and look for content writers who specialize in a particular niche or who can complete the job in less than 24 hours. If you're a writer with a unique skill set, it would be a good idea to mention it in your gig’s title. Source: Fiverr

Here are the things you should focus on first:

  • Title. Make sure to use the primary keywords as close to the beginning as possible and be specific. For example, "SEO content writer" in the title would rank higher than a simple "I write articles" because it's more relevant to the search engine's query. All gigs on Fiverr begin with "I will..." followed by a list of services you provide, so make sure the wording is accurate. The platform also doesn’t allow any special characters such as "&" or "+", so only letters, numbers, and basic symbols can be used in the title.
  • Tags. Fiverr allows up to five, so use them well. You can use both general ("SEO writer") and more specific or business-related ("SEO writing for SaaS") terms to be found more quickly.
  • Description. You can use up to 1,200 characters in your gig description. Make sure to include keywords, but don't overdo it — 3-5% related words in your description should be enough to naturally incorporate them and avoid keyword stuffing.
The title and description of a gig should contain keywords that potential customers would actually use when searching for a service on Fiverr. I try to make my headlines clear and specific, avoiding unnecessary "fluff". In the description, I include a combination of both basic and supplementary keywords. I select tags as accurately as possible based on the specific nature of the service provided. SEO optimization plays a crucial role here, as the visibility of a gig in Fiverr's search results and the number of organic orders it receives directly depend on this optimization.

Adding FAQs and videos to your gig can also influence ranking. A Reddit user claims that the video has helped them increase their impressions by 30% and double their orders. You can add up to 10 frequently asked questions and answers to help potential buyers learn more about your services, including delivery time and other important details. Here's a great example of a top-rated freelancer's optimized Fiverr gig to take inspiration from.

Buyer satisfaction and availability play a significant part in rising to the top as well, according to the Fiverr team. They also advise against making changes to your profile too frequently, as this can confuse the algorithm and result in a poor ranking. Instead, they recommend waiting 3-4 weeks before making any new alterations.

The most important thing is to maintain high activity. This includes quickly responding to requests, maintaining a high rating, updating gigs when necessary, and collecting positive feedback.

As a beginner, you can also use the “Get Briefs” feature on Fiverr. This allows you to directly respond to customer requests. Although this is not technically a gig promotion, as you are creating a customized offer for each individual request, it can be a great way to quickly receive your first jobs on Fiverr if the request aligns with your skills and desired payment.

Promote through social media

Using social media to drive traffic to Fiverr gigs is not just a nice addition; it's a strategic necessity, especially if you have an established personal brand and a following. There are 5.4 billion users worldwide, and the potential reach is immense.

While there are many platforms to choose from, it's best to focus on the one where your potential clients are most likely to find you based on your niche. For example, Instagram is great for visual content and services related to it. X (formerly Twitter) is great for tech- or crypto-related gigs, as there is a large community there.

Additionally, each social media platform requires a different approach. You can create a business page or join relevant groups and communities on Facebook. Use visuals to showcase your work on Instagram. Share case studies and participate in professional conversations on LinkedIn. Connect with clients using trending hashtags and participate in X charts.

If you're using platforms like Instagram, Facebook, or X, consider buying a blue checkmark. It can significantly enhance your professional image. With Instagram, you can get it for free if you meet the eligibility criteria and have an established profile — in other words, if you are a well-known public figure, brand, or business. Alternatively, you can pay for a Meta Verified subscription, starting at $14.99 per month. On X, only X Premium accounts that meet certain requirements can receive a blue checkmark. The subscription can be paid monthly or annually and starts at $8 per month or $84 per year.

YouTube has the largest share of Fiverr's social media traffic, accounting for 49.5%.

It is a great platform to showcase your Fiverr services, especially in the long run, if you are willing to invest time and effort into creating videos. People usually come on YouTube to find solutions to their problems. You can provide them by creating educational content for both buyers and sellers on Fiverr and encourage viewers to check your gig by leaving a link in the description. For example, if you're a content writer, you could talk about tips for beginner writers (increasing your credibility as a professional in the industry) and tips for hiring a content writer (aiming to impress potential clients with your experience and reason for hiring you). Remember to optimize the title, description, and tags for SEO.

While Pinterest is the least popular of the platforms in terms of monthly active users globally, it should not be underestimated as a tool for gig promotion. It has around 1.3 billion visits monthly and is the third primary source of social media traffic to Fiverr.

Pinterest allows users to upload images and create boards with them. To get started, you need to create a business account and design visually appealing pins that are clickable. Tools like Canva can help you with this. Once you have created the pins, you can publish them and provide a link to your Fiverr gig. When users click on the pin, they will be redirected to your gig. Even if they don't purchase your services themselves, the organic traffic they generate will help improve your gig's ranking in search results.

The most important thing is to post useful content 80% of the time and use the other 20% to directly promote yourself. You can check out our guide for tips on how to attract new clients and learn about the best types of content to share on each social media platform.

Yes, social media can help attract additional traffic. However, I personally do not use them. From my research, Instagram and Pinterest seem to be the most effective platforms for visual content, LinkedIn for B2B connections, and YouTube for educational and demonstration videos.

Create a niche blog

Blogging is a great way to drive traffic to your Fiverr gigs and establish yourself as an expert in your chosen field. Start sharing SEO-optimized blog posts on your blog that align with your Fiverr services. Share valuable information that the audience wants to read from start to finish: tutorials, tips, and expert articles. It costs nothing if you use an established platform like Blogger or Medium. In fact, Medium can even pay you for views if you join their Partner Program.

Plus, blog posts have serious staying power. Once published, they can keep drawing readers for months and even years. HubSpot claims that more than 50% of its traffic comes from posts that were published long ago.

Use email marketing

According to Statista, the number of daily emails sent in 2025 is 376.4 billion, and it's predicted to increase to 408.2 billion by 2027. So, email marketing is here to stay and continues to grow. It is considered the most effective channel for reaching potential customers by 73% of B2B marketers.

There are two ways to do it: warm and cold. If you already have a list of clients, email marketing can be an effective way to keep them engaged and encourage repeat purchases. Or simply to keep in touch. In this case, it's a good idea to create a list of valuable updates, such as special offers, new gigs, or even some creative formats like eBooks or quizzes. For example, one Reddit user shared that their interactive quiz had an impressive 69% conversion rate and helped them grow their email list.

If you don't have a large list of warm clients and are starting from scratch, you will need to use cold emailing. This can be more challenging, but it is manageable if you do it right. Cold outreach means contacting potential buyers who are not currently using Fiverr, so it's important to have a few good reviews on the platform before reaching out to them. It's also important to stay legal — spam and legitimate business inquiries can be difficult to distinguish from each other at first glance. Check CAN-SPAM if you’re in the US and GDPR if you’re in the EU before sending massive amounts of cold emails.

Here are the steps to take in order to make cold email marketing work:

  • Find potential customers who may require your services — you can use Google or special websites like Hunter or Snow.io. Focus on finding leaders in the field you are offering services to, rather than random addresses;
  • Bring value — don't just tell potential clients how great you are; show them. Make your emails more personal and focused on them, not on you. Identify areas where they may need improvement and how you can help them;
  • Include a link to your gig with reviews to provide social proof.

Needless to say, you will probably encounter some rejection along the way. However, if your service truly provides value to businesses, they may eventually place orders with you.

I believe email marketing may not be the most effective strategy for Fiverr, as most clients are likely to find you through internal search or platform features.

Run targeted ads

Paid advertising is probably the quickest way to drive traffic to your Fiverr gig. Digital ads targeted at the right audience can help attract clients who are interested in your services, making the sales process more efficient. The only drawback is that this method is not free. The cost of advertising online depends on the platform you choose, but according to the TopDraw study, the average cost for 1,000 impressions is between $3 and $10, and the average cost per click is between $1 and $3.

Google Ads are not permitted on Fiverr, as it is against the Terms of Service. However, this is only applicable if you want to promote a specific Fiverr gig directly. You can still run ads that lead to your website, if you have one, and include a link to Fiverr on it. Facebook ads are not prohibited, nor are ads on YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter.

Fiverr also offers its own advertising feature called Promoted Gigs. It’s available for users who have achieved level 1 and higher. The best part about these ads is that you only pay when someone clicks on them, with no upfront costs. When you earn from Fiverr, you can withdraw payments for your ad activity directly from your Fiverr account at the end of each month.

Note that you will be charged for each click, even if it does not lead to a sale. While it's a great supportive tool, it doesn't guarantee that it will pay off. You should make sure that your gig is optimized for sales and looks presentable before you promote it. Plus, there are certain requirements set by Fiverr for accessing it: your gig must have at least a 4.7 in the public rating and at least 20 reviews (although, if you're a Fiverr Pro, only five reviews are required).

Reddit comments about the Promoted gigs feature
Freelancers have mixed feelings about this feature. Some love it, while others find it disappointing and not worth the price. Here are two completely different experiences, published one after another in a Reddit thread. Source: Reddit

Final thoughts

There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to promoting on Fiverr. What works for one person may not work for another, and vice versa. Choose the strategies that best fit your needs and capabilities and follow through with them. Whether you choose to run a blog, use social media, send cold emails to potential clients, or use Fiverr's promotional features, be consistent and patient, and success will follow. If it takes longer than you would like, you could check out our guide to Fiverr alternatives to find a platform that may be more suitable for your needs.

The main mistakes made by newcomers include: too general gigs with no specific details, poor profile design, lack of a portfolio, and slow response to messages. I would recommend the following:
1. Clearly segment your services and create several highly targeted gigs;
2. Pay attention to the visuals (preview, video presentation);
3. Respond to requests quickly. Fiverr appreciates a high response rate;
4. Ask your first customers to leave detailed reviews;
5. Analyze the successful gigs of your competitors and improve yours.

FAQ

Do I need to invest money in order to promote my Fiverr gig successfully?

Not necessarily. While free methods like blogging, social media, and email marketing might take longer to produce results, they can still drive traffic to your Fiverr gig. And doing so well is essential. It's also worth considering SEO optimization for your profile — pay attention to the keywords used in your title, tags, and description, and add video and FAQs if possible.

What is the best social media platform to promote gigs outside Fiverr?

YouTube, Facebook, and Pinterest are the top 3 websites to generate traffic on Fiverr. However, the best platform for you is the one that best suits your needs. It doesn't necessarily have to be the most popular one. If you work in the crypto or tech niche, consider using Twitter. If your services are visual-based, try Instagram.

How do I promote a Fiverr gig on Pinterest?

You need to register a business account, create high-quality images (you can use Canva), and post them with the link to the gig page.

Are there any specific requirements for using Fiverr's Promoted Gigs feature?

Yes, you need to be a Level 1 or higher seller, and your gig should have a rating of at least 4.7 and at least twenty reviews (or five if you're a Top seller).
